EASY

This tour is mainly a driving tour.

Golden Eagles breed only in a small number of isolated locations on cliffs and valleys in southern Saskatchewan. They should never be disturbed during the breeding season.

During the non-breeding season, Golden Eagles spread out over agricultural regions of southwestern Saskatchewan. Their numbers are augmented by visiting eagles raised in Montana’s hills and mountains.

During the late fall, winter and early spring season, we offer guided private and public tours to allow visitors to watch these magnificent raptors. With patience, it is often  possible to photograph the eagles when they approach public roads.

Although we expect to find Golden Eagles on every tour, we cannot make any guarantees.

During these trips, we might also choose if you wish to visit some of the Cypress Hills to look for other avian visitors from the mountains including Gray-crowned Rosy Finches and Townsend’s Solitaires.

Tours begin about 9 am in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada.
Tours may also be joined about 3 pm in Maple Creek, Saskatchewan.

Public 3-day / 2-night Golden Eagle Tour Fee: CAD $3590 per vehicle (about US $2590, £1910) for a party of 1 – 4 persons . Note fee is for your entire party (not a per person fee). Additional persons in your vehicle are $200 each.

Golden Eagle Quest Tour Reservation Form

• Canadian Tax receipt for 50% of fee available with this method of registration if one of 2 payments made directly to Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation.

• E-transfer must be made at least 2 days before date of tour
• Canadian cheques must be received at least 10 days before date of tour
• USA checks must be received at least 6 weeks before date of tour
• Payment by credit card can be arranged with a 5% processing fee.
  (A lower processing fee using an online payment link is available if you do not need tax receipt.)

The number of participants accepted on these Golden Eagle Quest tours is limited. Because accommodation choices are limited in the remote areas visited on this tour, please reserve your spot as early as possible.

Snowy Owl Photography Guide: Boyd Coburn

Boyd Coburn has over 30 years experience as a wildlife photographer in Saskatchewan. He is knowledgeable about operating cameras and processing and editing images. He claims he is always learning new techniques for imaging and post processing.

Boyd has a keen eye to find wildlife and the patience required to wait for the best opportunities for photography. He is passionate about being ethical when interacting with wildlife and their natural environment. He enjoys nature and is always looking for those uncommon birds and mammals that we don’t often see.

His approach to bird photography: “It is not always about getting the shot though, sometimes you miss the shot but get a spectacular experience.”

Insurance

We suggest you consider buying travel medical insurance to cover emergency medical expenses during your tour.
We also recommend Trip Cancellation and Interruption insurance.

Travel insurance with trip cancellation and interruption benefits can reimburse you for non-refundable, pre-paid trip costs (up to the amount of your plan limits) should your participation in the trip be canceled or interrupted for a covered reason. According to our cancellation policies, your payment to us will become non-refundable if you cancel your participation after the deadlines outlined in our policies.

In general, Trip Cancellation insurance reimburses you for non-refundable expenses if you are unable to join the tour. Trip Interruption reimburses you for the unused portion of your tour if you have to leave part-way through a tour and it also covers some additional unexpected expenses incurred during your travel (e.g. additional hotel of flight costs due to weather delays or other delays that are not covered by your airline).

Covid Safety Policy on Tours

1. Your tour leader is fully vaccinated including booster.
2. Please contact us before booking tour if you have any special requests with regard to this policy. In certain cases, if requested, leader may be willing to ride in client’s vehicle or drive client’s vehicle.

Car: Saskatoon is located on Canada’s Yellowhead cross-country highway plus 6 other major highways connecting with all cities in Canada and USA. If you drive, you do not need to rent a car for our tours.
