Which bird species will we find?

The Saskatoon region is the best area in Canada for Ross’s Goose photography tours. We are situated near the center of the Ross’s Goose migration path shown on map. We are also the best location in North America for Whooping Crane tours during fall migration.

Ross’s Geese often occur within flocks of Snow Geese but can be distinguished in flight by their smaller size and on land or water by their smaller size and by their equilateral triangle-shaped beak without the dark grinning patch of the Snow Goose. On some occasions, an entire flock may be white Ross’s Geese.

Private Goose Tour Description

Our goose photography tour guests usually drive their own personal or rented vehicle and pick up the guide from their Saskatoon residence about 7:30 am. The guide then leads you to some the best staging areas for goose photography within 150 km of the city. In the morning, we often stop at the side of a rural road and watch or photograph geese feeding in grain fields. Later in the day, we plan to visit prairie lakes that may contain over 100,000 geese.

The sight of thousands of geese in the air at once makes for great goose photography and an awesome viewing experience.

Our 1-day tours normally returns to Saskatoon at about 3:30 pm. Longer tours may stay out to sunset.
